Visiting Friends

So we've been home two weeks now. Amy is still in New York and I am still here at the Buddy Fred's dock. Buddy Fred and Fran came down to see me this past couple of days and they just returned home this morning. It was nice to have some company and now that they are gone, it's way too quiet again.

Frank and Debbie stopped by on their boat Fat Chance and spent a night tied up to me on the dock. They went with me, Fran and the Buddy Fred to dinner in town at the Toucan. It was a lot of fun and now that you can no longer smoke in NC restaurants, the place is almost tolerable. The food has not gotten any better though and with the exception of the mussel appetizer, there is nothing I would recommend off the menu.

On the boating front, I've been slowly working through the multitude of boat jobs. I'm nowhere near done, but I'm making steady progress. Tomorrow I plan on fixing the broken steaming light and trying to finish replacing the door cartridge latch mechanisms on our three interior doors. I'm also expecting the UPS dude to arrive with a package of spare parts to fix our grill.

Speaking of grills, the Buddy Fred upgraded the grill down here at the house with the model shown side left. It sports 6 burners, 2 of which are infra-red and it also has a rotisserie attachment that I used to cook a whole chicken last night for our dinner. It took two hours, but the bird was excellent and I'll definitely be doing it again. I was really impressed with the thermometer on this bad boy as it goes up to 1000 degrees!

Crank that shit to 11! Warp power Mr. Sulu.

Anyhow, today I redeployed my crab whackers off the dock and so far I've caught 3 large male keepers that are currently in the vegetable crisper up at the house. I think tomorrow I may steam them for a pre-dinner snack and hopefully share them with George and Julie from Seaquel who I think might be stopping by on their way north to Maine. Long time readers (both of you) may remember George as Super G, my dive and volley ball buddy. We haven't seen each other since early April and it will be nice to catch up with them.

Ok, so that about does it. I'll be back when I have something better to say. Stay safe.
