Eco Friendly, Ego Deficient

Watch out for my gigantic ego! This past weekend, the old P&P Beach Club re-opened after more than a year off. The new proprietor, Big D (Darren) has spent the last four months completely rehabbing the facility and it's out buildings as well as cleaning out all the years of accumulated bottles, boxes and random junk.

The end result looks great and although they have only been open a couple of days, the community response has been great. We've only been up there for a couple of cold beers, but we've heard from others that the food is quite good as well.

Hopefully Big D will be able to make a serious go of keeping the place afloat as not only is it nice to have another bar and restaurant to visit, but also because it is located only 400 feet from where Team Dream Catcher normally anchors. The closeness of location will allow us to do our part in going green since we can now walk both to and from Big D's and never get wet above the belly button, thus reducing our need for gas for the dinghy. It's not easy being eco friendly.

In other news, we are down to about 100 boats left in the harbour. Many have started north, back towards the states and another 40 or so left with the "Rockin Ron, stroke my ego, travel by committee" trip over to Long Island.

And in related news, NOAA predicted a tropical depression forming almost instantaneously, right here on top of us, due to the extreme low pressure that resulted from Ron's massive ego departing G'Town. Apparently, just the movement of such a large mass of self aggrandizement and over inflated sense of self worth resulted in near hurricane force winds rushing back in to the area to fill the massive void left in Ron's wake.

Damn, I always new that the Regretta would be the death of us all....

Meanwhile, back in reality.....

In other news, we recently spent a couple of nights out and about at happy hours on various boats.

A few days ago, we had drinks with Ashleen and Ross on the PDQ 44 Good Trade. Their son, Kyler has been over to Dream Catcher a couple of times to play with the weasels and to assist me in my video game endeavors. I grilled a hunk of roasted beast and baked little mini rolls that Amy then assembled into mini beef sandwich sliders. They were well received and we returned home with none.

On Monday night, we joined Tom and Sandy from Anania on board Brian and Charlene's catamaran Tonga Time for drinks and munchies. This time I broke out my buffalo wing, medium spicy recipe and they didn't suck because once again, I came home empty handed.

During happy hour at Tonga Time, a young girl named Ayla on board Three at Sea came on the vhf radio and gave the anchorage a really nice, 10 minute talk in which she pointed out the various constellations visible in the night sky. The six of us stood on the deck of Tonga Time and followed along. It was way cool and a good time was had by all.

Last night (Tuesday) was poker night and for the first time in a long time, neither Amy nor I finished anywhere near the money. Oh well, at least we were home at a decent hour.

The weather is starting to settle down and by this weekend I suspect there will be only 50 or 60 boats still around. Spring has definitely set in. We're leaving sometime next week to sail to Thompson Bay with some friends for a couple of days of sight seeing. We'll be returning to G'Town in time for the Family Island Regatta sometime in early April.

More to follow, end of line ....

Rockin who?  Never heard of him... Oh yeah, that's cause we just pass through G-town as apposed to making it our home... Oh well, to each his own.

I'm just jealous cause you're still in the land of beautiful blue water and we're back here in the land of lawyers and lawsuits...  sheesh...even worse than Ron!  No really!

Boat projects are all done as of today.  What the hell are we gonna do the rest of the summer?

You suck...

We met ron and Karen last year in Vero Beach. They seemed normal until we ran into them again in Georgetown. What a bunch of egotistical maniacs! I don't think I've ever met a more self centered couple in my life. Maybe you should have the ferrets visit them one night.

Thandy

LMAO over Rockin Ron depression!  Just heard from George and Julie that they're back in GT.  Sounds like you're staying for a while.  We're heading north to Maine this summer and then back to the Bahamas...Yay!
