Life on Land

We've settled in to life on land, but we both miss the boat and I keep waking up in the middle of the night thinking the house is dragging.

Speaking of the boat, I've been out to visit it twice and so far it's doing ok on the mooring by itself. I took down the outside canvas and brought it back to the house so I can re-stitch a couple of the seams while we aren't in need of the shade they provide.

We haven't done a whole lot the last couple of days, but I think this weekend we might take the truck and drive around the island some. We'll have to come up with something, because yesterday I sat in front of the tv and watched 6 straight hours of "The Deadliest Catch".

Wow, really? How lame is that?

I did take the dinghy out and explored a little of the surrounding area. I spotted a number of good looking reefs that I plan to hunt in the coming weeks, but right now all my "bozo deluxe hunter attire" is still on Dream Catcher, so the local sea life is safe for now.

Anyhow, I snapped a couple of pics while I was out in the dinghy and I'll post them in the next several updates.

Remember, be safe, it's dumb out there ....

What do you do for water in a house on an island with no fresh water sources? Nice picture, enjoy your mini-vacation from your normal vacation.

The house has it's own cistern down stream from a passive water filtration system that provides potable water. Showers and sinks work off the cistern just.... There is a town water supply connect option here now that brings water from the RO plant north of G'Town, but this house does not tie in to that setup.

Regards, (crabing...what ever) may be lame, but come up and let's chop the lines in Seward and sail down to Cold Bay; reach on down to Adak and see if we can get out and back without using the "lame" word. Maybe we can score a king crab off one of the lame fishing boats. Buying a pound here in Anchorage today it was 38 bucks. Just a silly challange my friend, but you're always welcome.

All my best....

Man... I hate reading your posts, I can't wait to get back down there.  Deb said we need to do a summer down there one year if for no other reason then to avoid all of the idiots that winter there.

As an aside, we went to the Blueberry fest in New Bern last weekend and ran into Jon, Meredith and Nash.  They're doing very well, buying a house in the historic district.  Starting work and Nash is signed up at a catholic school.

Will be doing a family reunion in Wisconsine this weekend and then I may try to get down there.  Email me your current landline # and scope out those reefs!
