Time continues to pass us by. For the record, I am now 1 month and 5 days away from my forties. It sucks to be me.
I've spent the last 5 days building a set of dinghy chaps for the Dejarlo mega dinghy that we are babysitting for the summer. See supporting evidence, side right.
The chaps are two toned because we only had three yards of green, which matches Ollie's big boat color and so I used Cadet Grey to fill in the rest. I think they turned out really well, but as the creator, I may be biased.
Speaking of the Ollie mega dinghy, which going forward will be referred to as "Grouper Style", we've both found it to really be a life changer here in G'Town. No longer are we subject to the whims of mother nature and no longer do we need to get a weather window from the goat rapers at NOAA to cross the harbour to town.
With 13 feet of rigid inflatable underneath our feet, we no longer fear harbour waves! Now all I need is a set of 22's and I can blend right in with the local populace.
For the record, Amy says that I am going to be seriously suffering from dinghy withdrawl when Dejarlo returns and I may need to be hospitalized. Weak, dude, weak.
In other news, we played poker last night up at St. Francis. I played poorly and was out after about an hour. Amy made it to the final table, but ended up in 7th place, two positions out of the money. Damn it all!
The Family Island Regatta is just around the corner. I hope to have my ride for the A boat races finalized shortly, but my ride for the B boat races is secured pending the boat's arrival from Acklins Island. I say pending because the wind is currently blowing a solid 30 knots and as I write this, no boats have yet arrived.
The boat count continues to dwindle here and as of yesterday morning there were 75 boats reported still in the harbour. Super G and Miss Julie are planning on leaving this Tuesday and with that departure, 2 on 2 volleyball will come to an end due to a lack of players. Ahhhhhhhh! No!
Anyway, we'll be here in G'Town until after regatta and then we'll head out in what ever direction the wind will carry us. Since 87 octane gasoline is currently selling for 6 dollars and 22 cents a gallon, although we'll soon be free to move about the country, in truth, we'll only be able to afford to do it under sail. Suck ass!
More to follow, end of line ....
