Drifting On

We half drifted, half sailed down to Salt Pond yesterday. The advertised 10 knots of wind never showed and so we ended up spending 6 hours to sail the 15 miles down here. Pretty slow I know, but think of all the money we saved in fuel costs.

Anyhow, once inside the harbour, we anchored in the north end by ourselves well off the shoreline to avoid the bugs. The remainder of yesterday was spent working on boat projects and eating tuna.

Today, we upped anchor and motored over to the government dock. The mail boat came in late yesterday and we were hoping to score some fresh veggies at one of the two markets here. In addition, I hit the ESSO station for 5 gallons of dinosaur juice for a whopping $6.44 a gallon. Yikes!!!!

The market had a good selection and we managed to blow another thirty bucks on assorted greenery. Back on the mother ship, Amy put away our stuff while I mixed up some dinghy gas and then got in some quality time with my latest computer game, Orcs Must Die, Part 2. I assure you I was an orc killing machine for the remainder of the day.

Dinner was tuna tacos with all the trimmings, including a surprisingly good lime salsa that Amy made. Mind you it wasn't surprising that Amy made something good, rather that I ate something new that looked quite scary. Long times readers and my three friends will undoubtedly be amazed to hear that I tried and liked something new.

Post dinner we had the running of the weasels before retiring to our cabin for some reading by 8 pm. Amy fell asleep soon after, but I stayed up and finished the Divergent/Insurgent two book sci-fi before calling it a day at 12 pm. For the record, the books were good, but not great.

Ok, that's about it, remember be safe, it's dumb out there ....

Why waste all that time getting from point a to point b? Do you just like sailing that much?

Waste time?  You really don't get it, do you?  A cruising life is about not being in a big hurry to get anywhere, being laid back and taking or enjoying your time except in emergencies, and not being part of the rat race.  Waste time?  That is the whole idea of cruising.  Smile  Tom's chosen life is about enjoying "wasting time" doing what he wants to do instead of what other people want or think he should do.  Most land lubbers are in a hurry to get somewhere and wait or "waste time" doing something.  Tom is enjoying the trip as much as everything else.

Waste time?.....I beg to differ.......Ofis  totally gets it.....

My brother decided, by the time he was 25, he was going to retire @ 30 and enjoy what he had....the whole philosophy of you-can't-take-it-with-you,-why-save-it-for-a-rainy-day,use-it-insult-it-and/or-kill-it-while-you-can has served him (and Amy)very well over these last 13-some odd yrs......

It's a personal choice...A state of mind......you either get it...or you don't...and it's not for everyone.....not much is.....
